Manakula Vinayagar Koil Street, White Town
The Manakula Vinayagar Temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, is one of the oldest and most revered temples in Pondicherry. Located in the heart of White Town, it survived the French colonial period. The temple elephant, Matha, blesses devotees at the entrance — one of the most memorable experiences in Pondicherry. The 40+ forms of Ganesha depicted on the gopuram (tower) are remarkable. Visit during evening aarti for a magical atmosphere.
